Temporary Lane Closure on Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) to begin June 17, 2020 for Utility Construction

A portion of Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 for utility construction.  A utility contractor will be installing communication conduit on the south side of Water Street between S Florida Avenue and the Tampa Bay History Center.


One (1) eastbound lane on Water Street between S Morgan Street and the Tampa Bay History Center will close at 9 am beginning on June 17, 2020.  One (1) eastbound lane on Water Street between S Morgan Street and Tampa Bay History Center will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.


Sidewalks in the construction area will be closed during the construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.


All lanes on Water Street between S Morgan Street and the Tampa Bay History Center will open to traffic by 4 pm on Monday, August 17, 2020, weather permitting.


The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
