Temporary Lane Closure Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) to begin March 16, 2020 for Building Construction

A portion of Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will close daily for three (3) separate time periods beginning on Monday, March 16, 2019, for building construction.  A private contractor will place a crane on the south side of Water Street to the east of S Florida Avenue to complete renovations to the Marriott Waterside for the new overhead pedestrian bridge connecting the Marriott Waterside to the new JW Marriott.

The eastbound lane on Water Street between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on March 16, 2020.  Eastbound and westbound traffic will be intermittently maintained on the north side of Water Street between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street, with delays.

The eastbound lane on Water Street between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, weather permitting.

The sidewalk on the south side of Water Street between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to Riverwalk between Cotanchobee Park and the Tampa Convention Center, during construction.

The sidewalk on the north side of Water Street between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will remain closed until August 14, 2020 due to the JW Marriott hotel construction.

The crane will be set up in the eastbound lane on Water Street between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street for four (4) additional days during the construction project.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by 4 pm on Friday, May 29, 2020, weather permitting.

The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
