Temporary Lane Closures on Channelside Drive to begin May 4, 2020 for Utility Construction

A portion of Channelside Drive between S Ashley Drive and S Morgan Street will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Monday, May 4, 2019 for utility construction.  A private contractor will be performing exploratory work on Channelside Drive at the intersection of S Florida Avenue, for new communication facilities to the JW Marriott hotel.  The work will be performed over two days closing one lane on Channelside Drive at a time.

 

On Monday, May 4, 2020, the northernmost lane on Channelside Drive between S Ashley Drive and S Morgan Street will be closed from 9 am to 4 pm.  Three (3) lanes on Channelside Drive between S Ashley Drive and S Florida Avenue and two (2) lanes on Channelside Drive between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will remain open for traffic during construction, with delays.

 

On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, the southernmost lane on Channelside Drive between S Ashley Drive and S Morgan Street will be closed from 9 am to 4 pm.  Three (3) lanes on Channelside Drive between S Ashley Drive and S Florida Avenue and two (2) lanes on Channelside Drive between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will remain open for traffic during construction, with delays.

 

Sidewalks on the north side of Channelside Drive between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will be closed during the construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

 

All lanes on Channelside Drive will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
