Temporary Lane Closures on Knights Run Avenue and S Beneficial Drive to begin January 27, 2020 for Utility Construction

A portion of Knights Run Avenue between S Harbour Island Boulevard and S Beneficial Drive and Beneficial Drive between Channelside Drive and Knights Run Avenue will close beginning on Monday, January 27, 2020 for utility construction.  A City contractor will install a 12” sewer force main in Knights Run Avenue between S Harbour Island Boulevard and S Beneficial Drive and S Beneficial Drive between Channelside Drive and Knights Run Avenue in five (5) phases for the Harbour Island Force Main Replacement Project.

 

During Phase 1, the south side of Knights Run Avenue between Harbour Post Drive and S Beneficial Drive will close at 9 am on January 27, 2020. 

 

Eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained on the north side of Knights Run Avenue between Harbor Place Drive and S Beneficial Drive, with traffic delays.

 

During construction, the sidewalks within the construction area will be closed.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times.

 

Four (4) additional phases will follow upon completion of Phase 1 construction work.  The following streets will have road closures:

Phase 2: Knights Run Avenue between Harbor Place Drive and S Beneficial Drive

Phase 3: S Beneficial Drive between Harbor Place Drive and Knights Run Avenue

Phase 4: S Beneficial Drive between Garrison Channel and Harbor Place Drive

Phase 5: S Beneficial Drive between Channelside Drive and Garrison Channel

 

Knights Run Avenue between S Harbour Island Boulevard and S Beneficial Drive will reopen to traffic in both directions by 4 pm on Friday, March 6, 2020, weather permitting.  

 

It is anticipated that these 5 phases of the Harbour Island Force Main Replacement Project will be completed on Friday, May 22, 2010, weather permitting.  The entire Wastewater project is expected to be completed by Fall 2020, weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
