Temporary Lane Closures on N 21st Street to begin February 11, 2019 for Building Maintenance
A portion of N 21st Street between E Palm Avenue and E 4th Avenue will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Monday, February 11, 2019, for building maintenance. A private contractor will install a building overhang/covered walkway on the N 21st Street side of the Columbia Restaurant building in Phase 2 of a three-phase project. The Phase 1 portion located on N 22nd Street side of the building has been completed.
In Phase 2, one (1) southbound lane on N 21st Street between E 8th Avenue and E 5th Avenue will close at 9 am beginning on February 11, 2019.
One (1) southbound lane on N 21st Street between E 8th Avenue and E 5th Avenue will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.
The sidewalk on the east side of N 21st Street between E 7th Avenue and E 5th Avenue will be closed during this phase of the construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other sidewalks in the area via signage.
All lanes on N 21st Street will be open by 4 pm on Monday, March 4, 2019, weather permitting.
Phase 3 will include lane closures on E 7th Avenue between N 21st Street and N 22nd Street as part of the building overhang construction:
All 3 phases of the project are expected to be completed by April 22, 2019.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorist use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
