Temporary Lane Closures N 40th Street to begin May 7, 2019 for Utility Maintenance
A portion of N 40th Street between E Hillsborough Avenue and E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will close nightly from 9 pm to 6 am beginning on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, for utility maintenance. A City contractor will be cleaning and relining sewer lines on N 40th Street between E Louisiana Avenue and E Curtis Street. One (1) southbound lane on N 40th Street between E Ellicott Street and E Curtis Street will close at 9 pm on May 7, 2019.
One (1) southbound lane of traffic on N 40th Street between E Ellicott Street and E Curtis Street will be maintained during construction, with delays. Eastbound motorists on E Osbourne Avenue approaching N 40th Street will be restricted to left turn or right turn movements only.
The westbound lane on E Osbourne Avenue between N 42nd Street and N 40th Street will also be closed. Eastbound traffic will be maintained on the south side of E Osborne Avenue between N 40th Street and N 42nd Street, with delays.
All lanes on N 40th Street and E Osborne Avenue will be open to traffic by 6 am on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, weather permitting.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
Southbound motorists can use N 34th Street between E Hillsborough Avenue and E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in lieu of N 40th Street. Trucks should use N 56th Street/N 50th Street between E Hillsborough Avenue and E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in lieu of N 40th Street.
