Temporary Lane Closures N 40th Street to begin June 4, 2019 for Utility Maintenance

Tampa, FL (May 31, 2019) – A portion of N 40th Street between E Hillsborough Avenue and E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will close nightly from 9 pm to 6 am beginning on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, for utility maintenance.  A City contractor will be cleaning and relining sewer lines on N 40th Street between E Conover Street and E Louisiana Avenue.  One (1) southbound lane on N 40thStreet between E Conover Street and E Louisiana Avenue will close at 9 pm on June 4, 2019. 

 

The contractor will also be working in the sewer manhole at the intersection of N 40th Street and E Ellicott Street.  Left turn movements for northbound and southbound traffic on N 40th Street will be prohibited at the intersection with E Ellicott Street.

 

One (1) southbound lane of traffic on N 40th Street between E Conover Street and E Louisiana Avenue will be maintained during construction, with delays.

 

Also, beginning at 9 pm on June 4, 2019, the westbound lane on E Ellicott Street between N 42nd Street and N 40th Street will be closed.  Eastbound and westbound traffic will be intermittently maintained on the south side of E Ellicott Street, with delays.

 

All lanes on N 40th Street and E Ellicott Street will be open to traffic by 6 am on Friday, June 21, 2019, weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion. 

 

Southbound motorists can use N 34th Street between E Hillsborough Avenue and E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in lieu of N 40th Street.  Trucks should use N 56th Street/N 50th Street between E Hillsborough Avenue and E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in lieu of N 40th Street.
