Temporary Lane Closures on N Himes Avenue to begin August 13, 2018 for Utility Construction

Tampa, FL (July 31, 2018) – A portion of N Himes Avenue between W Spruce Street and W Cypress Street will close on Monday, August 13, 2018, as part of the Capital Improvement project.  A utility contractor will be installing new transmission poles on the west side of N Himes Avenue between W Arch Street and W Cypress Street.  One (1) southbound lane on N Himes Avenue between W Green Street and W Cypress Street will close daily between 9 am and 4 pm beginning on August 13, 2018. 

One (1) southbound lane on N Himes Avenue between W Green Street and W Cypress Street will be maintained at all times, with delays. 

The sidewalk on the west side of N Himes Avenue between W Arch Street and W Cypress Street will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured via signage to other sidewalks in the area, during construction.

All lanes on N Himes Avenue between W Green Street and W Cypress Street will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Monday, September 10, 2018, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorist use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion. Southbound motorists can use N Dale Mabry Highway or N MacDill Avenue between W Spruce Street and W Cypress Street in lieu of N Himes Avenue.
