Temporary Lane Closures on N Himes Avenue to begin September 6, 2018 for Road Construction

A portion of N Himes Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W Columbus Drive will close on Thursday, September 6, 2018, as part of the Capital Improvement project.  The City contractor will install landscaping in the center medians on N Himes Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W Columbus Drive.   The landscape improvements include the installation of Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ including flowering perennials, flowering trees, shrubs and ornamental grasses.    

There will be intermittent daily northbound and southbound lane closures adjacent to the center medians on N Himes Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W Columbus Drive between 9 am and 4 pm beginning on September 6, 2018.  The northbound and southbound left turn movements on N Himes Avenue may be restricted during portions of the work.

One northbound and one southbound lane on N Himes Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W Columbus Drive will be maintained at all times, with delays. 

The sidewalks on N Himes Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W Columbus Drive will remain open during construction.

It is anticipated that all lanes on N Himes Avenue will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, September 21, 2018, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorist use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
