Temporary Lane Closures of N Jefferson Street and E Whiting Street to begin October 5, 2018 for Utility Construction
(This is a revision to a Traffic Advisory issued on September 25, 2018)
A portion of N Jefferson Street between E Whiting Street and E Jackson Street and a portion of E Whiting Street between S Nebraska Avenue and N Jefferson Street will close on Friday, October 5, 2018, as part of Phase 6 of the TECO upgrade project. The TECO subcontractor will be installing conduit on the north side of E Whiting Street across the northbound lanes on N Jefferson Street.
Phase 5 construction work on N Jefferson Street between E Jackson Street and E Whiting Street and a portion of E Whiting Street between N Jefferson Street and N Pierce Street is expected to be completed by 4 pm on Thursday, October 4, 2018, with the contractor transitioning into the Phase 6 work.
On October 5, 2018 at approximately 9 am, both northbound lanes on N Jefferson Street between E Whiting Street and E Washington Street and the westbound lane on E Whiting Street between N East Street and N Jefferson Street will close. It is anticipated that this phase of construction work will be completed by 4 pm on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, weather permitting.
Sidewalks in the construction area will be closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to other sidewalks in the area via signage.
One (1) additional phase will follow upon completion of Phase 6 construction work. The following streets will have interim lane closures.
Phase 7: S Jefferson Street between E Whiting Street and E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street between N Pierce Street and S Jefferson Street –two (2) southbound lanes and one (1) eastbound lane
It is anticipated that these 7 phases of the TECO upgrade project will be completed and all lanes will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, October 12, 2018, weather permitting.
The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
