Temporary Lane Closures of Platt Street and Plant Avenue to begin June 29, 2017 for Utility Construction

07/13/17

(This is a revision to a Traffic Advisory sent out on June 28, 2017)

The ongoing TECO Plant Avenue substation upgrade project construction has been extended.  In addition to the present time schedule and lane closures on Plant Avenue between Hyde Park Place and Grand Central Avenue and a portion of Platt Street between Hyde Park Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard, weekend hours will be added beginning on Saturday, July 15, 2017 for utility construction.  Extended work hours will be from 9 am Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday for two (2) consecutive weekends.  TECO will be installing new electrical lines between existing manholes on Plant Avenue from the Plant Avenue substation to Tampa General Hospital.

The bike lane on Platt Street from Hyde Park Avenue to Parker Street will be closed. Two (2) northbound traffic lanes and the bike lane on Plant Avenue from Hyde Park Place to Platt Street will also be closed.

Sidewalks and crosswalks along Platt Street and Plant Avenue will be closed throughout the construction area. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

It is anticipated that this phase of construction work will be completed by 9 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2017, weather permitting.

The City recommends using alternative northbound routes to avoid traffic congestion.
