Temporary Lane Closures on S Franklin Street and Channelside Drive February 14, 2019 for Soils Investigation

Tampa, FL (February 6, 2019) – A portion of S Franklin Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive and a portion of Channelside Drive between Bayshore Boulevard and S Franklin Street will close on Thursday, February 14, 2019 for soils investigation.  An environmental contractor will be performing borings and installing monitoring wells on the east side of the Tampa Convention Center.  

 

One (1) southbound lane of S Franklin Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive and one (1) eastbound lane on Channelside Drive between Bayshore Boulevard and S Franklin Street will close 9 am to 4 pm on February 14, 2019.

 

One (1) southbound lane of S Franklin Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive and three (3) eastbound lanes on Channelside Drive between Bayshore Boulevard and S Franklin Street will be maintained at all times, with delays.

 

Crosswalks on the north side and the west side of the S Franklin Street at the Channelside Drive intersection will be closed during construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other sidewalks in the area via signage.

 

It is anticipated that all lanes on S Franklin Street and Channelside Drive will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Thursday, February 14, 2019 weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
