Temporary Lane Closures on S Manhattan Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard to begin August 10, 2020 for Utility and Driveway Construction

A portion of S Manhattan Avenue between Interbay Boulevard and W Euclid Avenue and a portion of W Gandy Boulevard between S West Shore Boulevard and S Manhattan Avenue will close beginning on Monday, August 10, 2020 for utility and driveway construction.  A private contractor will be installing utilities and a driveway on the east side of S Manhattan Avenue between W Gandy Boulevard and W Oakellar Avenue in 2 phases for the new Publix at 4317 W Gandy Boulevard.  

In Phase 1, one (1) northbound lane on S Manhattan Avenue between W Mc Elroy Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard, both northbound lanesand the center auxillary lane on S Manhattan Avenue between W Gandy Boulevard and W Oakellar Avenue and one (1) eastbound left turn lane on W Gandy Boulevard between S Hesperides Street and S Manhattan Avenue will close at 9 am beginning on August 10, 2020.

One (1) lane of northbound and southbound traffic on S Manhattan Avenue between W Gandy Boulevard and W Oakellar Avenue will be maintained on the west side of the road at all times during construction, with delays.

Phase 2 will begin immediately following Phase 1. In Phase 2, one (1) northbound lane on S Manhattan Avenue between W McElroy Avenue and W Oakellar Avenue and one (1) eastbound left turn lane on W Gandy Boulevard between S Hesperides Street and S Manhattan Avenue will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm.

One (1) lane of northbound traffic on S Manhattan Avenue between W Mc Elroy Avenue and W Oakellar Avenue will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

Sidewalks within the work area will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times.

It is anticipated that all lanes on S Manhattan Avenue between W Mc Elroy Avenue and W Oakellar Avenue and on W Gandy Boulevard between S Hesperides Street and S Manhattan Avenue will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, September 18, 2020, weather permitting.

The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Northbound and southbound motorists can use S West Shore Boulevard or S Dale Mabry Highway between Interbay Boulevard and W Euclid Avenue in lieu of S Manhattan Avenue.

Northbound and southbound trucks can use S Dale Mabry Highway between Interbay Boulevard/W Gandy Boulevard and W Euclid Avenue in lieu of S Manhattan Avenue.
