Temporary Lane Closures on S Morgan Street to begin January 15, 2020 for Road Construction

A portion of S Morgan Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive will close at 9 am beginning Wednesday, January 15, 2020 for road construction. A City contractor will be reconstructing roadway, drainage and sidewalks on S Morgan Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive.  Construction will take place in two (2) phases.

 

In Phase 1, the two (2) southbound lanes on S Morgan Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive will close at 9 am on January 15, 2020.  One (1) southbound through lane and one (1) southbound left turn lane will be maintained on the east side of S Morgan Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive at all times during this phase of the construction. This phase is expected to be completed on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

 

Phase 2 will begin immediately after completion of Phase 1.  In Phase 2, one (1) northbound lane on S Morgan Street between Channelside Drive and E Brorein Street will close. One (1) southbound through lane and one (1) southbound left turn lane will be maintained on the west side of S Morgan Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive at all times during this phase of the construction.

 

The northbound through lane on S Morgan Street between Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) and Channelside Drive will be closed during both phases of construction.

 

Sidewalks within the work area will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

 

All lanes on S Morgan Street between E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive will be open to traffic at 4 pm on  Thursday, February 20, 2020, weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
