Temporary Road Closure of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to begin August 3, 2017 for CSX Construction

A portion of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (SR 574) from 22nd Street to 40th Street will be closed starting on Thursday, August 3, 2017 to repair two (2) sets of CSX tracks.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed over two consecutive weekends starting at 11:59 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2017 and will reopen each weekend by 11:59 pm on Monday, weather permitting. 

 

Only one set of CSX tracks will be repaired, at a time, to allow access to the businesses on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.  The CSX tracks on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at 30th Street will be repaired first followed by the CSX tracks located on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between 38th Street and 39th Street. 

 

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, just west of 30th Street, will close on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:59 pm. 30th Street between Osbourne Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Lake Avenue will also close on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:59 pm. All roads will reopen to traffic by 11:59 pm on Monday, August 7, 2017.

 

On Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 11:59 pm, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between 38th Street and 39th Street will close and will reopen to traffic by 11:59 pm on Monday, August 14, 2017. 

 

It is anticipated that  the entire CSX track repair will be completed and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be reopen to traffic by 11:59 pm on August 14, 2017, weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
