Temporary Road Closure of N Franklin Street and E Cass Street to begin October 26, 2018 for Utility Construction

A portion of N Franklin Street between E Cass Street and E Polk Street and E Cass Street between N Tampa Street and N Franklin Street will close beginning on Friday, October 26, 2018, for a 2-phase utility construction project.   On October 26, 2018, N Franklin Street between E Cass Street and E Polk Street will close at 7 am as part of the first phase of the utility construction.  A utility contractor will install a gas main on the west side of N Franklin Street between E Cass Street and E Polk Street. 

The sidewalks on the west side of N Franklin Street between E Cass Street and E Polk Street will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area, during construction. 

Phase 1 construction work on N Franklin Street between E Cass Street and E Polk Street is expected to be completed by 6 pm on Friday, October 26, 2018, with the contractor transitioning into the final phase 2 work on E Cass Street.

On Friday, October 26, 2018, at approximately 7 pm, E Cass Street between N Tampa Street and N Franklin Street will close for the final phase of the construction.  The utility contractor will be connecting the new N Franklin Street gas main into the existing gas main on the northwest corner of N Franklin Street and E Cass Street. 

The sidewalks on the north side of E Cass Street between N Tampa Street and N Franklin Street and on the west side of N Franklin Street between E Tyler Street and E Cass Street will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area, during construction. 

All lanes on E Cass Street between N Tampa Street and N Franklin Street will be open by 7 pm on Sunday, October 28, 2018, weather permitting.

The City recommends using alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
