Temporary Road Closure on Rome Avenue / Snow Avenue / Dakota Avenue to begin May 1, 2017 for Road Construction

A portion of Rome Avenue / Snow Avenue / Dakota Avenue between Morrison Avenue and Swann Avenue will close on Monday, May 1, 2017, as part of Hyde Park Village Road  Improvement Project.  The contractor will close the northbound lane on Rome Avenue / Snow Avenue / Dakota Avenue between Morrison Avenue and Swann Avenue to tie-in the 8” water main on the east side of the road. 

Northbound traffic on Rome Avenue / Snow Avenue will be temporarily routed around Village Circle Road to Dakota Avenue providing circulation for local residents and businesses in Hyde Park Village. 

Dakota Avenue south of Swann Ave will be closed to southbound traffic. 

Sidewalk on the east side of Rome Avenue / Snow Avenue / Dakota Avenue will close in the area of the construction and pedestrians will be detoured to the west side of the road.

It is anticipated that the northbound lane on Rome Avenue / Snow Avenue / Dakota Avenue will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, May 5, 2017, weather permitting.

The southbound lane on Rome Avenue / Snow Avenue / Dakota Avenue is scheduled to be reopen to traffic in early June, 2017.

The City recommends that motorists use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
