Temporary Road Closure of S Himes Avenue to begin September 10, 2018 for Utility Construction

A portion of S Himes Avenue between W Swann Avenue and W Azeele Street will close Monday, September 10, 2018, for utility construction.  A private contractor will be installing sewer, water and reclaimed water services for a new townhouse development on the northeast corner of S Himes Avenue and W Horatio Street.  S Himes Avenue between W Dale Avenue and W Horatio Street will close at 9 am on September 10, 2018.

The sidewalk on the west side of S Himes Avenue between W Dale Avenue and W Horatio Street will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

During construction, a portion of W Horatio Street between Henderson Boulevard and S Himes Avenue will also be closed to install a driveway and water connections.

It is anticipated that all lanes on S Himes Avenue will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018, weather permitting. 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid congestion.
