Temporary Road Closure W Cass Street to begin December 9, 2019 for Building Demolition

(This is a revision to a Traffic Advisory issued on December 4, 2019)

– A portion of W Cass Street between N Ashley Drive and Doyle Carlton Drive/Straz drop-off entrance will close beginning on Monday, December 9, 2019 for building demolition.  A private contractor will be demolishing the pedestrian bridge that connects the Straz to the Poe Parking Garage in two (2) phases.  Phase 1 demolition of the pedestrian bridge over W Tyler Street, presently ongoing, is scheduled to be completed by Friday, December 6, 2019.   The demolition of the pedestrian bridge over W Cass Street is scheduled to begin on December 9, 2019.

W Cass Street between N Ashley Drive and Doyle Carlton Drive/Straz drop-off entrance will close at 9 am on December 9, 2019. 

Access to the Straz Performing Arts Center drop-off entrance will be available from W Tyler Street at all times during construction.

Access to the Poe Parking Garage will be available from southbound N Ashley Drive at all times during construction. The northbound left turn lane on N Ashley Drive at the W Cass Street intersection will be closed during construction.

The sidewalks on both sides of W Cass Street under the pedestrian bridge will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times. 

W Cass Street is scheduled to reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, December 13, 2019, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
