Temporary Road Closures of W Tampa Bay Boulevard began August 24, 2018 for Stadium Events

A portion of W Tampa Bay Boulevard between N Dale Mabry Highway and N Himes Avenue closed beginning on Friday, August 24, 2018, for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football games held at Raymond James Stadium.  W Tampa Bay Boulevard between N Dale Mabry Highway and N Himes Avenue will close eight (8) hours prior to the kick off time for all Tampa Bay Buccaneers football games and will open to traffic approximately 3-½ hours after the end of each football game, weather permitting.    The Tampa Bay Buccaneers football games are scheduled for the following days and times:

  • Thursday, August 30, 2018  7:30 pm
  • Sunday, September 16, 2018  1 pm
  • Monday, September 24, 2018  8:15 pm
  • Sunday, October 21, 2018  1 pm
  • Sunday, November 11, 2018 1 pm
  • Saturday, November 25, 2018  1 pm
  • Sunday, December 2, 2018  1 pm
  • Sunday, December 9, 2018  1 pm
  • Sunday, December 30, 2018  1 pm

Prior to and after each Tampa Bay Buccaneers football game, additional lanes on W Tampa Bay Boulevard, N Himes Avenue, W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and N Dale Mabry Highway will be closed as follows: 

Five (5) hours before each Buccaneers football game kickoff:

  • The eastbound lane on W Tampa Bay Boulevard between N Lois Avenue and N Dale Mabry Highway and close to allow W Tampa Bay Boulevard between N Dale Mabry Highway and N Lois Avenue to function as a temporary one-way westbound road to allow ingress and egress to the adjacent parking lots.
  • The westbound lane on W Tampa Bay Boulevard between N Webb Avenue and N Himes Avenue will close to accommodate the heavy pedestrian crossing at the intersection of W Tampa Bay Boulevard and N Himes Avenue.

Approximately two (2) hours after kickoff, the following lanes will close to facilitate motorists exiting the stadium event.  Lanes will remain closed until approximately 3-½ hours after the football game is over.

  • All northbound lanes on N Himes Avenue between Lot 14 exit and W Columbus Drive will be utilized for southbound traffic.
  • The westbound lane on W Tampa Bay Boulevard between N Himes Avenue and N Armenia Avenue will be utilized for eastbound traffic.
  • The eastbound lane on W Tampa Bay Boulevard between N Lois Avenue and N Dale Mabry Highway will be utilized for westbound traffic.
  • The eastbound lanes on W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Dale Mabry Highway and N Himes Avenue and the southbound left turn lanes on N Dale Mabry Highway at the intersection of W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will close to allow egress from Lot 1 and Lot 2 parking lots on W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

It is anticipated that all lanes on W Tampa Bay Boulevard, N Himes Avenue, W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and N Dale Mabry Highway will open to traffic 3-½ hours after each game, weather permitting.   

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.  Eastbound and westbound motorists can use W Hillsborough Avenue in lieu of W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and W Tampa Bay Boulevard.  Northbound and southbound motorists can use N Howard Avenue/N Armenia Avenue.
