Temporary Road/Lane Closures on E Brorein Street, S Morgan Street & LeRoy Selmon Expressway Morgan Street Off-Ramp to begin March 23, 2020 for Road Construction
A portion of E Brorein Street between S Nebraska Avenue and S Morgan Street, S Morgan Street between Channelside Drive and E Whiting Street and the LeRoy Selmon westbound Morgan Street off-ramp will close beginning on Monday, March 23, 2020, for road construction. A City contractor will be installing storm inlets, traffic signals, sidewalks on E Brorein Street as part of the roadway and infrastructure improvements project. The work will be completed in two (2) phases over the next two (2) months.
During Phase 1, S Brorein Street between S Nebraska Avenue and S Jefferson Street and two (2) lanes on E Brorein Street between S Jefferson Street and S Morgan Street will close at 9 am on Monday, March 23, 2020. Two (2) westbound lanes will be maintained on the north side of E Cumberland Avenue/E Brorein Street between S Nebraska Avenue and S Morgan Street.
During Phase 1B, the southbound right turn lane on S Morgan Street between E Whiting Street and E Brorein Street will be closed.
Phase 2 will begin immediately after completion of Phase 1. During Phase 2A, northbound N Morgan Street between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street will be closed. The LeRoy Selmon Expressway westbound Morgan Street off-ramp will be partially closed during this phase.
During Phase 2B, the LeRoy Selmon Expressway westbound Morgan Street off-ramp right turn lane onto S Morgan Street will be partially closed.
The sidewalk within the work area will be closed during construction. Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area, during construction.
It is anticipated that all lanes on E Brorein Street, S Morgan Street and the LeRoy Selmon Expressway westbound Morgan Street off-ramp will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, May 29, 2020, weather permitting.
