Temporary Road/Lane Closures on W Tyler Street and N WC Macinnes Place to begin December 2, 2019 for Building Demolition
A portion of W Tyler Street between N WC Macinnes Place and Doyle Carlton Drive/Straz Center drop-off entrance and N WC Macinnes Place between W Fortune Street and W Tyler Street will close beginning on Monday, December 2, 2019 for building demolition. A private contractor will be demolishing the pedestrian bridge that connects the Straz to the Poe Parking Garage in two (2) phases. During Phase 1, the contractor will demolish the pedestrian bridge over W Tyler St and in Phase 2, the pedestrian bridge over W Cass Street will be demolished.
W Tyler Street between N WC Macinnes Place and Doyle Carlton Drive/Straz drop-off entrance and the southbound lane on N WC Macinnes Place between W Fortune Street and W Tyler Street will close at 9 am on December 2, 2019.
Access to the Straz Performing Arts Center drop-off entrance will be available from W Cass Street at all times during construction.
The sidewalks on both sides of W Tyler Street will be closed during construction. Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times.
It is anticipated that all lanes on W Tyler Street and the southbound lane on N WC Macinnes Place will open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, December 6, 2019, weather permitting.
Phase 2 pedestrian bridge demolition is scheduled to begin on Monday, December 9, 2019, with the closure of W Cass Street.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
