HCSO K-9 Finds Suspect Hiding Under Leaves and Brush
During the search for the suspect, units involved with the search utilized the “County Wide” frequency so that communications between both agencies were accurate and immediate.

VICTIM: Officer Jodie L Maxim, 1 ½ year TPD veteran
SUSPECT: Watson, Gregory, 12/16/57, B/M, 4401 Lurline Circle, Tampa
CHARGES: Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resist Arrest with Violence, Possession of Cocaine and Driving While License Suspended
DETAILS: While on routine patrol, Officer Jodie Maxim ran the suspect’s tag and discovered the driver had a suspended license. When Officer Maxim conducted the traffic stop, the driver fled from the vehicle on foot and ran southbound on Lurline Circle. After a lengthy foot pursuit, Officer Maxium confronted the suspect at 4412 Lurline Circle. Officer Maxim tasered the suspect, but the taser was ineffective. The suspect grabbed a hold of Officer Maxim’s right arm and forced her to the ground and he took off through neighboring yards. Additional units responded as well as Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office patrol officers, TPD Air Service and TPD and HCSO’s K-9 units. A perimeter was immediately set and Robles Park Elementary School was placed on lockdown. HCSO’s K-9 unit located the suspect after he had buried himself under heavy brush and leaves. The suspect received minor injuries from the dog bite and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Officer Maxim was also treated for minor abrasions to her right arm.
