TPD and HCSO Conduct Joint Operation to "Clean Up" North Tampa Neighborhoods
Date/Time: April 22-23, 2011
Location: Targeted neighborhoods throughout the Tampa Police Department's District 2 and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office District One areas.
Tampa Police officers and Hillsborough County Sheriff deputies pooled their resources to make 83 arrests within Sulphur Springs, 50th Street corridor and the University areas. Both agencies worked hand in hand to host "Operation Spring Cleaning" which focused on crime ridden neighborhoods in North Tampa. The two-day joint operation resulted in 34 felony and 49 misdemeanor arrests. The arrest round up included robbery suspects, sexual offenders and drug dealers.
Officers and deputies also assisted each other with prostitution enforcement, juvenile checks and quality of life patrols during the operation. This team effort played a huge role in the operation's success of making the targeted areas safer for residents.
