TPD and US Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrest Man for Killing his Girlfriend's Toddler

Victim: Mayla Pressley, DOB: 8/30/2012, B/F, 8123 North Marks Street, Tampa
On 5/7/14 at 7:21 p.m., the suspect was babysitting his girlfriend's one and a half year old daughter when he called 911 saying the child was unconscious. Police officers and Tampa Fire Rescue medics responded to the scene and found the victim unresponsive on the living room couch with visible upper body trauma. The toddler was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where she later died. The medical examiner determined that she died from blunt force trauma.
Based on the Medical Examiner's results and witness statements, Tampa Police Homicide detectives developed probable cause for a First Degree Murder warrant on Thursday, May, 8, 2014. The department's Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force have been searching for the suspect ever since. Today Monday, May 12, 2014, task force members were able to make contact with the suspect who agreed meet them at a parking lot in Eastern Hillsborough County. He was taken into custody without incident.
