Update to last night’s fatal car crash on Columbus Drive and I-4

Next of Kin has been notified.

Driver of the Mazda - Randolph W. De Sylvia 8/6/91, 1808 East15th Avenue Tampa. Minor injuries

Driver of the Toyota - Chaz Yount, 6/17/91, 229 SW Lincoln Circle North, St. Petersburg. No injuries

Front seat passenger - Naquan Yancey, 17 years old – no address at this time. Life threatening injuries.

Back seat passenger - Alicia Dawn Shaheed 1/2/93, 1216 Sabraton Avenue, Morgantown, WV. Died on scene.

Back seat passenger. Kalima Haneef, 11/27/90, PO Box 15355 St Petersburg. Stable but critical condition

Back seat passenger - Shontae Shaheed, 10/22/91, 1216 Sabraton Avenue, Morgantown, WV. Stable but critical condition

Tampa Police detectives are still investigating the crash to determine what caused it and who is at fault.

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 6/29/2011 at 9:24 PM

LOCATION: Columbus Dr.E & I-4 East Bound Exit

DETAILS:
Just after 10 p.m. on 06/29/11, the driver of a Toyota Solara going East on I4, exiting on 50th street, turned left on Columbus Drive. A Mazda CX-9 was traveling West on Columbus. The Mazda t-boned the Toyota in the intersection. The Toyota rolled into a ditch. An 18 year old female backseat passenger died on the scene. The two other backseat passengers, 20 year old female and a 19 year old female, were taken to Tampa General Hospital. They have critical injuries. The 17 year old male front seat passenger was taken to Tampa General Hospital with life threatening injuries. The 20 year old male driver is unharmed.

The 19 year old male driver of the Mazda, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries. He does not have a driver's license.

The 20 year old driver of the Toyota has a learner's permit.

Detectives are investigating the cause of the crash. Additional information, including victims' names, will be released in the morning.
