Under Heavy Surveillance, Police Arrest Sexual Battery Suspect who Attacked 12 Year old Boy

SUSPECT: Dacquiri Jermaine Crawford, B/M, 7/1/83, 1029 East 7th Ave Apt A, Tampa

CHARGES: Sexual Battery on Child between 12yrs and 18yrs, Lewd and Lascivious Battery on a Child under the age of 16 years, Trespass on School Property

ARREST DATE:4/12/13, 8:30am

VICTIM: 12 year-old, Black Male

LOCATION: North Boulevard and Spruce Street

Tampa Police conducted an extensive suspect search after a 12 year old boy was sexually battered and the suspect told him, "If you liked that, I will be back." The suspect returned to the offense location the next day under heavy police surveillance and was arrested.

On 4/11/13 shortly after 9:00pm, the victim was walking home along the Hillsborough River behind Blake High School when he noticed the suspect standing by a red car parked under the Boulevard Bridge overpass near the sidewalk. As the victim walked closer to him, the suspect grabbed the boy and forced him down the embankment near the river to a clump of bushes. The suspect performed two sexual acts on the victim and then let him go. The victim ran home where his mother called 911 at 9:31pm

Police launched a full scale search for the suspect with patrol, K9 and Air Service. Officers flooded the area with undercover officers and on 4/12/13 at 8:30pm, the suspect returned to the offense location. He was arrested without incident. The suspect admitted performing the sexual acts and turned over the clothing that he was wearing during the offense. The suspect is a school bus driver for the Hillsborough County School District. He was arrested on school property.
