Tampa, Fla. (July 4, 2014) – A precautionary boil water notice continues today for water service customers the Ballast Point area in South Tampa.

Customers affected by the precautionary boil water notice are bounded by S. Himes Ave. on the west, W. Ballast Point Blvd. on the north, Hillsborough Bay on the east, and MacDill AFB on the south. MacDill AFB is not included in the precautionary boil water notice.

Preliminary water quality samples taken in the area indicate potential contamination. Additional independent testing to confirm that preliminary result will not be available until later tonight, July 4, 2014.

The City of Tampa Water Department also requests that any resident with a private well within a subset of the larger affected area call the Utilities Call Center as soon as possible so that additional water quality samples can be taken. Again, customers within that subset of the larger affected area with a well on their property are urged to contact the Water Department as soon as possible by calling the Utilities Call Center at(813) 274-8811.  The public's assistance in expediting a resolution to this matter is great appreciated.
