U.S. Marshals Assist Tampa Police in Arresting Shooter in Neighborhood Dispute

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 10/24/2014 at 12:42 p.m.

INCIDENT LOCATION: 9411 North 12th Street

VICTIM: Donte Roberson, DOB: 1/19/1984, B/M

SUSPECT: Joshame Deon Sewell, DOB: 5/17/1994, B/M, 9409 North 12th Street Tampa

DETAILS:

On 10/24/14, the suspect and victim were involved in a verbal altercation over dog feces. The suspect was enraged because the neighbor's dog defecated in his yard.  He retrieved a rifle and opened fire on the victim. The victim was struck several times in the right leg and once in the right hand. The victim is still recovering at a local hospital.

Detectives identified the suspect during their investigation and issued a warrant for Joshame Sewell’s arrest.  The department’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit teamed up with members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to locate the suspect. On 10/31/14, the Marshals Task Force took the suspect into custody in Belle Glade, Florida. Sewell is currently being held in the Palm Beach County Jail.  He is awaiting extradition back to Hillsborough County.
