Details: At 1:12 p.m. Officer Cain was traveling southbound on 15th Street when he observed the suspect vehicle (Toyota Cion) driving aggressively. The suspect vehicle cut off at least three other vehicles in traffic. At 15th Street and Bouganvillia Avenue, Officer Cain attempted a traffic stop to issue a citation. The suspect turned east onto Bouganvillia and then south onto 16th Street before pulling over. The officer ran the name of the driver's license provided and discovered the person was wanted for driving on a suspended license. The officer called for a back up and then the two officers approached the vehicle to make the arrest. The driver initially complied by exiting the vehicle, but then he attacked Officer Cain. A violent struggle between the suspect and the two officers ensued. The suspect grabbed Officer Cain's gun and tried to pull it out of the holster. Officer Savitt warned the suspect to let go of the gun or he would shoot. Officer Savitt fired his weapon and two rounds hit the suspect. He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in critical condition.
