Volunteers Clean Up Tampa's Beaches During Annual Beach Clean-up

Each year, thousands visit the city’s beaches for Independence Day and leave exploded fireworks debris and harmful plastics on Tampa’s shoreline. Volunteers were up bright and early today, Tuesday, July 5, and picked up over 70 bags of trash and fireworks (approximately 2100 lbs) from Ben T. Davis Beach and the Courtney Campbell Causeway.

The day-after beach clean-up is a service initiative that was started in 2005 by the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful.

Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, Inc., the local Keep America Beautiful Affiliate, is with the country’s largest volunteer-based community action and education organization on litter prevention. For more information on how you can Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful call (813) 221-8733 or visit them the web.
