Intermittent lane closures in downtown Tampa to begin July 15, 2018 for Utility Maintenance Work

On July 15, 2018, there will be intermittent lane closures and/or lane shifts from 9pm-5am in downtown Tampa while department crews televise and clean the sewer system in the area. This work will continue nightly through August 15, 2018. Please see the attached map that highlights the impacted areas.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Temporary Lane Closures E Twiggs Street to begin July 23, 2018 for Sidewalk Construction

A portion of E Twiggs Street between N Nebraska Avenue and Channelside Drive will close beginning on Monday, July 23, 2018 for sidewalk construction.  A private contractor will install curbing and sidewalk on the south side of E Twiggs Street between N Meridian Avenue and N 12th Street.  One (1) eastbound lane on E Twiggs Street between N Nebraska Avenue and N 12th Street will close daily from 9 am to 2:30 pm beginning on July 23, 2018. On weekends between July 28, 2018 to August 19, 2018, one (1) eastbound lane on E Twiggs Street between N Nebraska Avenue and N 12th Street will close daily from 7 am to 3 pm.

One (1) eastbound lane of traffic on E Twiggs Street between N Nebraska Avenue and N 12th Street will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays. 

Sidewalks within the work area will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times.

All lanes on E Twiggs Street between N Nebraska Avenue and N 12th Street will be open to traffic by 2:30 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2018, weather permitting. 

The City recommends using alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Temporary Lane Closures N Howard Avenue, N Armenia Avenue and W Columbus Drive to begin July 16, 2018 for Road Maintenance

A portion of N Howard Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W Columbus Drive, a portion of N Armenia Avenue between W Columbus Drive and W Kennedy Boulevard, and a portion of W Columbus Drive between N Dale Mabry Highway and N Avenida Republica De Cuba will close beginning Monday, July 16, 2018 for road maintenance.  A County contractor will be obtaining pavement corings at 40 locations for a future road improvement project.  The corings will be obtained one at a time with one (1) lane of traffic closed at each location to perform the work. Lane closures will take place daily between 9 am to 4 pm beginning on July 16, 2018 on the following roads:

  • N Howard Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W St John Street

One (1) lane of northbound traffic will be closed at 10 coring locations.  At least one (1) lane of northbound traffic will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

  • N Armenia Avenue between W Columbus Drive and W Kennedy Boulevard

One (1) lane of southbound traffic will be closed at 11 coring locations.  At least one (1) lane of southbound traffic will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

  • W Columbus Drive between N Dale Mabry Highway and N 13th Street

One (1) lane of traffic will be closed at 19 coring locations.  One (1) lane of eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained intermittently at all times during construction, with delays.

All lanes on N Howard Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W St John Street, on N Armenia Avenue between W Columbus Drive and W Kennedy Boulevard, and on W Columbus Drive between N Dale Mabry Highway and Avenida Republica De Cuba will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, August 17, 2018, weather permitting. 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid congestion.  Northbound and southbound motorists can use N MacDill Avenue between W Kennedy Boulevard and W Columbus Drive in lieu of N Howard Avenue or N Armenia Avenue.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can use W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Dale Mabry Highway and N 15th Street/N 14th Street in lieu of W Columbus Drive.

Traffic Advisory: Temporary Lane Closure Old Water Street July 9, 2018 for Roadway and Infrastructure Improvements, to be released today, July 9, 2018

A portion of Old Water Street between S Florida Avenue and Channelside Drive will close on Monday, July 9, 2018, for roadway and infrastructure improvements.  One (1) northbound lane on Old Water Street between S Morgan Street and Channelside Drive will close at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018. It will reopen to traffic by 3:30 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018, weather permitting.

 

Additionally, a portion of S Nebraska Ave between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street, S Jefferson Street between Channelside Drive and E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive between S Morgan Street and S Jefferson Street is closed for roadway and infrastructure improvements.  S Nebraska Avenue between E Walton St and E Finley St is expected to be open to traffic by 4 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018.

 

As part of the phased roadway realignment program planned for southern downtown Tampa, a portion of E Brorein Street between Old Water Street and S Nebraska Avenue is closed permanently.  Channelside Drive between Old Water Street and S Nebraska Avenue has been reconfigured to accommodate two (2) westbound lanes and two (2) eastbound lanes.   As part of the interim roadway realignment plan, S Nebraska Avenue between Channelside Drive and E Brorein Street was converted to a one-way, two-lane northbound road.

 

E Eunice Avenue between S Jefferson Street and S Nebraska Avenue will remain closed until Friday, June 29, 2018.

 

S Caesar Street between Channelside Drive and E Walton Street will remain closed until Tuesday, September 4, 2018. 

 

E Cumberland Avenue between S Jefferson Street and S Meridian Avenue will also remain closed until Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

Temporary Road Closure on N Avenida Republica De Cuba to begin June 26, 2018 for Building Construction

A portion of N Avenida Republica De Cuba between E 7th Avenue and E 8th Avenue  will close at 9 am beginning on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, for building construction.  A private contractor will be staging construction vehicles on N Avenida Republica De Cuba for a new Ybor City hotel, 2018.  The hotel is being built on the block between E 7th Avenue and E 8th Avenue and between N Avenida Republica De Cuba and N 15th Street.

The sidewalks around the entire hotel project will be closed during construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks in the area with signage.

All lanes on N Avenida Republica De Cuba are scheduled to be open to traffic by Tuesday, February 18, 2020, weather permitting.

A portion of Old Water Street between Channelside Drive and S Franklin Street and S Florida Avenue between Old Water Street and Channelside Drive will close beginning on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, for building construction.  A private contractor will be removing curb and sidewalk and relocating a utility pole on the northeast corner of Old Water Street and Florida Avenue for a new hotel on the north side of Old Water Street between S Morgan Street and S Florida Avenue.  One (1) westbound lane on Old Water Street between Channelside Drive and S Florida Avenue and one (1) northbound lane on S Florida Avenue between Old Water Street and Channelside Drive will close at 9 am beginning on May 15, 2018. 

The sidewalk on the north side of Old Water Street between S Morgan Street and S Florida Avenue and on the east side of S Florida Avenue between Old Water Street and the mid-block crosswalk (Thunder Alley) on S Florida Avenue will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks in the area with signage.

This phase of construction is expected to be completed by Monday, September 24, 2018, weather permitting.

Additional lane closures will be required throughout the construction of the new hotel.  The new hotel is scheduled to open in the fall of 2020.

Temporary Road Closure on W Swann Avenue to continue May 9, 2018 for Roadway Improvements

(This is an update to Traffic Advisories issued on May 8, 2018 and July 6, 2018)

 

Tampa, FL (August 1, 2018) – A portion of W Swann Avenue between S Armenia Avenue and S MacDill Avenue closed on Monday, April 9, 2018 for a Capital Improvement project.  The City contractor is installing drainage, curbing, and sidewalks on W Swann Avenue between S Armenia Avenue and S Gomez Avenue as part of a stormwater improvement project.  This construction work on W Swann Avenue will be completed in 4 phases over a 5 month period. 

Phases 1 and 2 are completed.

Phase 3 work is presently ongoing.  W Swann Avenue between S Audubon Avenue and S Habana Avenue closed on May 9, 2018.  It is anticipated that the Phase 3 work will be completed by 4 pm on Friday, August 24, 2018, weather permitting. 

In Phase 4, W Swann Avenue at the S Habana Avenue intersection will close at 9 am beginning on Monday, August 6, 2018.  The emergency entrance to Memorial Hospital of Tampa on S Habana Avenue will remain open and accessible from W De Leon Street at all times during construction.

Sidewalks on W Swann Avenue will be closed during the construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

It is anticipated that the Phase 4 work will be completed by 4 pm on Friday, August 24, 2018, weather permitting. 

The entire Capital Improvement project on W Swann Avenue between S Armenia Avenue and S Gomez Avenue is expected to be completed by September 7, 2018.

The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
