Temporary Road Closure on S Manhattan Avenue to begin January 22, 2018 for Utility Construction

(This is a revision to a Traffic Advisory sent out on January 17, 2018)

A portion of S Manhattan Avenue between W El Prado Boulevard and W Bay to Bay Boulevard will close on Monday, January 22, 2018, as part of a 3 phase Capital Improvement Project. As part of Phase 1, the City contractor will install stormwater pipe and structures, sewer main and water main in S Manhattan Avenue between W El Prado Boulevard and W Sevilla Street. W Vasconia Street will be closed at the intersection of S Manhattan Avenue.
Access to businesses and a residence on the west side of S Manhattan Avenue located between W El Prado Boulevard and W Sevilla Street will be maintained from the west using W El Prado Boulevard and W Vasconia Street or from the north using S Manhattan Avenue.
Access to businesses on the east side of S Manhattan Avenue located between W El Prado Boulevard and W Sevilla Street will be maintained from the east using W El Prado Boulevard and W Vasconia Street or from the north using S Manhattan Avenue.
Directional business signs will be placed within the construction area.
Sidewalks along S Manhattan Avenue will be closed intermittently throughout the construction area. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.
It is anticipated that all lanes on S Manhattan Avenue between W El Prado Boulevard and W Sevilla Street will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Monday, May 14, 2018, weather permitting.

Phases 2 and 3 will include closing S Manhattan Avenue from W El Prado Boulevard to W Euclid Avenue and W El Prado Boulevard between S Hesperides Street and S Hubert Avenue. All 3 phases of the project are scheduled to be completed by September 2018.

Temporary Road Closures of S Nebraska Avenue and Eunice Street to begin January 16, 2018 for Roadway and Infrastructure Improvements

S Nebraska Avenue between Channelside Drive  and E Brorein Street will close at 9 am on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, for roadway and infrastructure improvements.  S Nebraska Avenue between Channelside Drive and E Brorein Street is scheduled to reopen to traffic by 3:30 pm on Friday, March 30, 2018, weather permitting.

 

Additionally, Eunice Street between S Jefferson Street and S Nebraska Avenue will close at 9 am on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 and will reopen to traffic by 3:30 pm on Friday, March 30, 2018, weather permitting.

 

S Nebraska Avenue between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street and E Walton Street between S Nebraska Avenue and S Caesar Street are both scheduled to be open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, March 2, 2018, weather permitting.  During the construction, Finley Street and S Caesar Street will remain open for local truck traffic only.

 

S Caesar Street between Channelside Drive and E Walton Street will remain closed until Thursday, May 31, 2018. 

 

E Cumberland Avenue between S Nebraska Avenue and S Meridian Avenue will remain closed until Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

Temporary Lane Closures on W Cypress Street began December 4, 2017 for Utility Construction

A portion of W Cypress Street between Memorial Highway and N Lois Avenue closed on Monday, December 4, 2017 for utility construction.  There will be intermittent lane(s) closures of eastbound lanes on W Cypress Street between N O’Brien Street and N Manhattan Avenue daily from 9 am to 3 pm beginning on December 4, 2017.  A utility contractor will be installing new transmission poles on the south side of W Cypress Street from the E Frontage Road to N Manhattan Avenue. The work schedule will be intermittent. 

 

Both lanes of westbound  traffic on W Cypress Street between N Lois Avenue and E Frontage Road will be maintained at all times during construction. 

 

It is anticipated that all lanes on W Cypress Street between N O’Brien Street and N Manhattan Avenue will reopen to traffic by 3 pm on Friday, March 30, 2018, weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.  Eastbound and westbound motorists can use W Spruce Street and W Boy Scout Boulevard between N O’Brien Street and N Lois Avenue in lieu of W Cypress Street.

Temporary Lane Closures of Bayshore Boulevard to begin January 3, 2018 for Road Construction

A portion of Bayshore Boulevard between S Howard Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard  will close beginning on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, as part of the final phase of the Bayshore Safety Enhancement project.  One (1) southbound lane on Bayshore Boulevard between S Howard Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard will close daily from 9 am to 3 pm beginning on January 3, 2018.  A City of Tampa contractor will reset granite curb, install sidewalks and pedestrian ADA ramps along the west side of Bayshore Boulevard.  The Bayshore Safety Enhancement project includes two (2) ten foot (10’) wide lanes, five foot (5’) wide Tampa bike lane and speed reduction from 40 mph to 35 mph.  In addition to the road safety improvements on Bayshore Boulevard, the contractor will be installing stormwater pipe at the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and W Wallcraft Avenue. 

Portions of the sidewalk on the land side of Bayshore Boulevard will be closed during construction.   Pedestrians will be detoured via signage to other sidewalks in the area, during construction.

It is anticipated that the project will be completed in October 2018, weather permitting.

The City recommends using alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.

A portion of E Brorein Street between S Meridian Avenue and S Jefferson Street will close on Monday, December 11, 2017 for roadway and infrastructure improvements.  One (1) westbound lane on the north side of E Brorein Street between S Nebraska Avenue and S Jefferson Street will close at 9 am for utility tie-ins on E Brorein Street.  All lanes on E Brorein Street between S Nebraska Avenue and S Jefferson Street are expected to be open to traffic by 3:30 pm, weather permitting.

 

The City recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.  Westbound motorists can use E Kennedy Boulevard between S Meridian Avenue and S Morgan Street, in lieu of E Brorein Street.

A portion of S Nebraska Avenue between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street will close on Monday, December 11, 2017, for roadway and infrastructure improvements. S Nebraska Avenue between E Brorein Street and Finley Street will close at 9 am on December 11, 2017 and will open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, March 2, 2018, weather permitting.

 

E Walton Street between S Nebraska Avenue and S Caesar Street will close at 9 am on Monday, December 11, 2017.  The construction will include utility relocation and roadway improvements at the intersection of S Nebraska Avenue and E Walton Street and at the intersection of S Caesar Street and E Walton Street.  E Walton Street will open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, March 2, 2018, weather permitting. During the construction, Finley Street and S Caesar Street will remain open for local truck traffic only.

 

Utility work continues on E Brorein Street at the intersection of S Jefferson Street including lane shifts on E Brorein Street between S Nebraska Avenue and S Morgan Street.  This construction work is expected to be completed by Friday, December 29, 2017, weather permitting. 

 

S Caesar Street between Channelside Drive and E Walton Street will remain closed until Thursday, May 31, 2018. 

 

E Cumberland Avenue between S Nebraska Avenue and S Meridian Avenue will remain closed until Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

The Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Council's 20th Anniversary Latinos Unidos Luncheon, will be celebrated at the downtown Hilton Hotel on Tuesday May 8, 2018.

 

The 2018 Luncheon keynote speaker will be Manuel D. "Manny" Medina, CEO of Cyxtera Technologies, a global leader in data center infrastructure and cyber-security solutions. A frequent IT consultant, and recognized industry leader, Medina was the founder and CEO of Terremark which was acquired by Verizon in 2011 for an enterprise value of $2 billion. A former CPA for Price Waterhouse, Medina is also the founder and chairman of eMerge Americas, the premier B2B technology event linking the U.S., Latin America and Europe.
