The Water Department is responsible for the treatment and delivery of drinking water to a service population of approximately 657,000 people in the Tampa Bay area.

May 29, 2009 - Beginning Monday users of City of Tampa-provided drinking water will be able to turn their sprinklers back on. Under the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s (SWFWMD) Phase IV watering restrictions, all city customers using City-provided drinking water for irrigation will return to the permitted once a week irrigation day they had prior to April 3, 2009, with reduced hours and limits on low volume irrigation days.
