Volleyball Tournament to Bring Increased Traffic to Downtown Tampa

The Tampa Convention Center is anticipating increased traffic Saturday, February 17 through Monday, February 19 from the Gasparilla Volleyball Kickoff. This event is expected to bring an estimated 10,000 athletes and spectators to Downtown Tampa. It has been held at the Tampa Convention Center since 2010. It brings an estimated economic impact of $4.5 million dollars to the City of Tampa.

Drivers should anticipate additional traffic volume in Downtown Tampa near the Tampa Convention Center, including on S. Franklin St. leading to and from Harbour Island. Please plan extra time for your commute. Tampa Police will be stationed at crosswalks to assist with traffic flow and pedestrian crossings.

Traffic is expected to peak near the event start time of 7:45 am each day. Tournaments will continue until approximately 9:15pm.

Event attendees who are driving to this event should go directly to the Tampa Convention Center parking garage, located at 141 East Brorein Street in Tampa, across the street from the center’s Franklin Street Entrance. Additional parking is available at Pam Iorio Parking Garage, located at 301 Channelside Drive, Tampa, just one block from the center.

Attendees can enjoy food and beverage concessions inside the Exhibit Halls. There is also food available from Big Ray’s Fish Camp Riverwalk, located on the convention center property at The Sail Plaza. There will be food trucks stationed outside the convention center for this event.
