Uncontested 2018 Board Trustee Election - Incumbent trustee Steve Kenny was the only eligible member to submit a Petition for Candidacy Form to the General Employees' Retirement Fund by the July 27th deadline. He will be reappointed to serve another three year term from November 1, 2018 - October 31, 2021 by the Board of Trustees at the August 21st meeting. Mr. Kenny's current term expires October 31, 2018.
Annual DROP Investment Election Forms Due August 31st: DROP participants will receive Fiscal Year 2019 DROP Investment Election Forms along with an overview of investment options during the week of July 23rd. Members are given a choice of investments between DROP Option #1 - Net investment return earned by the General Employees' Retirement Fund or DROP Option #2 - Northern Trust, Collective Government Short-Term Investment Fund. Completed DROP Investment Election Forms must be returned to the General Employees' Retirement Fund by Friday, August 31, 2018 by 5:00 p.m. All elections take effect on October 1, 2018 and remain in effect for fiscal year 2019 (October 1, 2018 - September 30, 2019).
FY 2017 Annual Report Produced for Members & Retirees: The General Employees' Retirement Fund is pleased to submit its Annual Report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2017. The report was written to provide members and retirees with an overview of the Fund's administration as well as to highlight key financial, investment and funding information.
General Employees' Retirement Fund Receives 2017 PPCC Award: The Public Pension Coordinating Council (PPCC) on October 14, 2017, awarded the General Employees' Retirement Fund its second Public Pension Standards Award for Funding and Admininstration. The award represents the General Employees' Retirement Fund has met the professional standards for plan funding and administration as set forth in the PPCC's public pension standards and reflect minimum expectations for public retirement system management and administration; as well as serve as a benchmark by which all defined benefit public plans should be measured. The Public Pension Coordinating Council is a coalition of the National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA); the National Council on Teacher Retirement (NCTR); and the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS). Together, these associations represent more than 500 of the largest pension plans in the U.S.
Monthly Board of Trustees Meetings: The next meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in the Board Meeting Room of the Fire & Police Pension Fund located at 3001 N. Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33603.
