City Joins Effort to Clean our Coastline

Keeping our parks and coastlines trash-free not only benefits our local neighborhoods, but it also protects our main source of drinking water: the Hillsborough River. To preserve our natural resources, the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department, the Tampa Water Department, and the AmeriCorps Volunteer Florida Green Team are teaming up with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful for this year’s Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 16.

Temple Crest Park will act as a central hub for City of Tampa 2023 Coastal Cleanup Day activities. Along with a cleanup effort on the ground and along the Hillsborough River, City staff will offer a variety of educational activities, water-saving tools, and arts and crafts activities to local families.

Residents are invited to come out to Temple Crest Park, or one of the many cleanups taking place this year for Coastal Cleanup Day. Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful is organizing the regional cleanup effort. Volunteers are scheduled to remove litter from dozens of Tampa parks and recreational areas, as well as locations throughout Hillsborough County. A list of participating locations is now available online.

Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful is a nonprofit aimed at providing education and taking steps to create a cleaner, greener community. The City of Tampa partners with them on various projects such as working on community gardens, tree plantings, and litter clean up.

Volunteers taking part in Coastal Cleanup Day are encouraged to bring:

  • A Reusable Water Bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Protective Shoes
  • Hats and/or Sunglasses

Trash bags and soft gloves will be provided. Community service hours are given to those who need it. Any person under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Residents wishing to take part in the Temple Crest Park cleanup effort, or any of the other Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful locations, can sign up now. Visit the Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful Eventbrite page to sign up
