Tampa Police Charge Man with Manslaughter Following Suspicious Death Investigation

Date of Birth: 08/14/1980

Charges: One count of Felony Manslaughter, One count of Felony Battery

On October 15, 2023, at approximately 9:37 a.m., officers began a death investigation in the 3300 block of E. Frierson Ave when an acquaintance found the victim deceased after the victim’s children asked the acquaintance for help. Officers arrived and found a deceased black female in her late thirties.

During the investigation, officers quickly determined that the suspect, 43-year-old Freddie Adams, Jr., had been arrested just a few days before for a domestic battery incident against the victim and was currently in Falkenburg Jail.

The domestic violence incident took place on October 13, 2023, at approximately 11:50 p.m., when the victim suffered obvious facial injuries, including a laceration. Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the scene; however, the victim declined transport to the hospital for further medical evaluation. Adams was located down the street from the residence and taken into custody just after midnight, charged with one count of Battery.

On the morning of October 15, 2023, the victim was found deceased by an acquaintance. The Medical Examiner completed an investigation, determining the victim’s cause of death was a result of blunt impact to the head from injuries sustained on October 13, 2023.

On October 19, 2023, detectives charged Adams with Felony Manslaughter. He remains in Falkenberg Jail.
