With holiday school closures just around the corner, the City of Tampa's Parks and Recreation Department is reminding parents of its After School and Out of School programming to help working parents who need reliable and safe childcare.

During the 2022-2023 school year, approximately 1,800 students were enrolled in our programs during 23 no school days at recreation centers across the city. They are an affordable option that provide opportunities for children to develop relationships with friends and mentors, and learn through various sports, crafts, and other social activities.

"We are proud to consistently provide a safe space for children in our community," said Mayor Jane Castor. "Our Out of School Program provides peace of mind for our hardworking parents and gives children access to activities where they can make new friends and learn new skills."

Several of our counselors attended our programming when they were school-aged students and believe in the value these programs bring to the lives of our children.

After School and Out of School programs follow the Hillsborough County School Board calendar and an active Rec Card is required to register a child. Fall Break Camp registration will open on October 23. Please click here to apply. The next school closure is Monday, October 16. Registration is still open.
