The City of Tampa will be cutting the ribbon on the new dog park at Henry and Ola park. The 10,600-square-foot dog park is the 17th in the City.

Construction on the $150,000 project began late last year. In addition to fencing and irrigation, a turf entry area was built, and two 4-foot benches, one 6-foot bench and a picnic table were added. An ADA-accessible dog fountain, a dog waste station and a trash can round out the amenities.

The Planning, Design and Natural Resources division in Parks and Recreation and the Green Team planted three red maple trees and 42 pink muhly grass. The trees should start showing leaves soon, and at full maturity will be up to 60 feet tall.

"We are delighted that this wonderful project has been completed," said Parks and Recreation Manager Ted Fowler. "The Parks and Recreation Department is proud that this fantastic dog park will provide a place for pets and their humans to have fun and socialize."

The City of Tampa acquired the property that is now Henry and Ola Park in 1992. Parks & Recreation sent out a survey regarding a dog park in 2022.
