The City of Tampa Department of Transportation and Stormwater Services maintains a sidewalk network that is more than 825 linear miles long. The Sidewalk Construction & Restoration Program consists of capital improvement sidewalk projects as well as the maintenance and restoration of the existing network.
Requests for sidewalk repairs and restoration and for new sidewalks can be submitted via our Call Center at 813-274-3101.
Requests for sidewalk repairs and restoration may also be submitted via the Customer Service Center - Sidewalk Damage Request (Repair) webpage. Due to repair requests backlogs, it may take between six and nine months for repairs to be completed.
New sidewalks requests can also be submitted through the Customer Service Center - Sidewalk Installation Request (New) webpage. You may also download the current Sidewalk Program Brochure and Petition.
New Sidewalk Construction
All new sidewalk construction projects, also known as capital improvements, are scored and selected for inclusion in the long-term work program based on the following criteria:
- (1) ADA Safety Issue
- (2) Regional Sidewalk Plan
- (3) Observed Student Route
- (4) Observed Public Use
- (5) Complete Sidewalk Gap
- (6) Estimated Construction Cost
- (7) Collector Road Connection
- (8) Strong Community Support
Once a project has been scored, it is reviewed at the quarterly sidewalk workshop consisting of representatives from various City departments. While the City receives many individual requests for new sidewalks, in order to gain maximum consideration, a petition should be submitted to the City containing the minimum number of signatures of ten residents unless the circumstances of the location do not allow for ten signatures to be obtained. New sidewalk construction projects are scheduled based on priority and funding availability.
Completed petition requests for new sidewalk forms can be submitted to
