Citizens Review Board
The Citizens Review Board was formed to enhance trust between the Tampa Police Department and the community it serves by creating an unbiased panel of citizens to review completed disciplinary cases and issues of importance or interest to the community and the Police Department. The Review Board will report its findings to the Chief of Police and, when appropriate, may make recommendations for possible policy changes. The Review Board consists of eleven (11) volunteer members, including nine (9) voting members and two (2) alternates, serving staggered four-year terms. Review Board members must be at least 18 years of age, and must agree to submit to a background check and successfully complete the Tampa Police Department’s Citizens Academy. Review Board members may not be a City of Tampa employee, directly related to a member of the Tampa Police Department, as defined by the City of Tampa Code of Ethics, currently working for any law enforcement agency, holding political office or be campaigning for office, have any prior felony convictions or any convictions of moral turpitude.
