This program is reserved for residential customers with active refuse accounts residing in single-family homes and multi-unit properties (four units and less).

Please place all debris curbside no later than 6:00 a.m. on the Monday of your S.W.E.E.P. cleanup week.

Newly Designed SWEEP Schedule 

The City of Tampa Department of Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management’s S.W.E.E.P. services team collects approximately 2,893 tons of miscellaneous debris annually.  In order to maintain the effectiveness of this program, the layout of the S.W.E.E.P. schedule has been updated. The traditional design, which associates the names of neighborhood civic associations with S.W.E.E.P. collection boundaries has changed. Design enhancements to the S.W.E.E.P. schedule provide:

  • Clearly outlined area boundaries for thirty-seven (37) individual weeklong neighborhood clean-ups throughout the *City of Tampa
  • An organized outline categorizing the weeklong dates of each neighborhood clean-up
  • The use of published street names, from 2013 Google Maps index, to delineate clean-up boundaries
  • A newly designed SWEEP map that identifies the clean-up week numbers with clean-up dates

We hope you find these enhancements useful when preparing for S.W.E.E.P. collection services in your neighborhood.  For additional information or clarification about clean-ups, residents are encouraged to contact the City of Tampa Utility Services Call Center at (813) 274-8811.

Set Out Requirements:

Items must be placed at curbside, on the right of way in front of your residence by the designated time. Items placed in front of vacant homes, or lots will  be treated as illegal dumping, and will not be collected by the S.W.E.E.P team.

To prevent damage and injury to equipment, property, and personnel please avoid placing items under low hanging tree limbs; on or near electrical/phone lines, water meters, and utility boxes.

Set Out Times:

The earliest that items may be placed curbside is 5-days prior to the first day of a SWEEP clean-up.

  • The latest that items may be placed curbside is the Monday on the week of a SWEEP clean-up.

  • All SWEEP items must be set out NO LATER than 6:00 a.m.

Acceptable Debris/Materials:

  • Household appliances
  • Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Tires without rims (up to 4)
  • Carpet
  • Yard waste (cut down to 4 feet lengths)
  • Barbecue grills
  • Toilets
  • Railroad ties (cut down to 4 feet lengths)

Items NOT accepted:  
    • Building materials (sheds, fences, tile, pipe, wood/plywood, brick, concrete blocks, roofing material, doors, windows, drywall) 

    • Hazardous Materials & Electronics*
    • Pressurized gas cylinders> Explosives/ammunition

    • Liquid waste (paints, solvents, oil or fuels*) 

    • Metal drums

    • Tires with rims

    • Boats

*These materials may be taken to one of the City's Household Chemical & Electronics Collections for safe and environmentally safe disposal.

PLEASE NOTE: The City reserves the right to refuse items as necessary. Piles of debris deemed to be excessively large may incur additional disposal costs.
